Northeast Medical Center | Design, Creation + Installation of Wayfinding System for Pediatric Unit (A)
Northeast Medical Center needed an artist/designer to develop a Wayfinding system and custom artwork for a Pediatric Unit. The first step was to choose a theme that would have resonance with children... Animals would be perfect. Next, the unit was split into 4 different neighborhoods with 4 different color palettes: Pediatric Park North/South (Red), Dragonfly Drive (Violet), Big Frog Mountain (Green) and Caterpillar Court (Blue). On the Wayfinding side; Sign names and corner markers in a template unique to that hall were created to be installed perpendicular to the wall for maximum visibility. These two elements would correspond to a "key" with hallway names and room number ranges that would be created for the wall that would welcome the visitors at the entrance to the unit. (More on the next slide.)
