Gateway Village | Wayfinding: Planning + Signage Hierarchy (A)Cousins Properties is the property manager for Gateway Village, a multi-dimensional business/educational/cultural district in Charlotte, North Carolina. They needed a design consultant to come in and re-examine the vehicular and pedestrian traffic routes in their region and question the effectiveness of their existing signage and wayfinding communications. The team's first step was to clean the slate and get out there to research the area. Based on that necessary feedback, a new system of signage hierarchy was proposed that consisted of navigational pylons, projecting/blade signs, fabric banners and sidewalk imagery...
